9. Divergent by Veronica Roth
Looking for a good dystopian series to read? I would definitely recommend the Divergent series. The first book Divergent follows the life of a sixteen-year-old girl Beatrice Prior in a dystopian version of Chicago. The city has been divided into five factions of Abnegation, Divergent, Erudite, Candor, and Amity. The story begins on the day before the Choosing Ceremony, where all sixteen-year-olds must choose which faction they will belong to for the rest of their lives. Beatrice currently lives in Abnegation, which values selflessness, but has a desire to join Dauntless, which values bravery above all else. However, almost no one from Abnegation has ever switched factions, so what will she decide? Find out in Divergent!

7. Lorien Legacies by Pittacus Lore
I Am Number Four, the first book in the Lorien Legacies Series, introduces John Smith, a seemingly normal teenage boy; however, he is actually an alien who has to constantly change his identity to hide from his hunters: an alien race called the Mogadorians. In the past, the Mogadorians invaded John’s home planet Lorien and completely destroyed it, forcing John and nine other kids like him to flee to Earth as the last survivors of the Lorien people.
The Lorien Legacies Series is an extremely underrated series. Once you start reading, you won’t be able to stop! If you like adventure and science fiction novels, you should definitely start reading this exciting series!

5. The Young Elites by Marie Lu
Adelina Amouteru lives with her father and her sister, Violetta. She is a malfetto, someone who was damaged and scarred by the blood fever, a disgrace. Marie Lu outdoes herself again with this series. It’s a fantastic read, and I strongly recommend it.

4. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
The Lunar Chronicles is about a cyborg, Cinder, who lives with her stepmother, Linh Adri, and her two sisters, Linh Pearl and Peony. One day, when Cinder meets Prince Kai, the prince of the Eastern Commonwealth, an unexpected connection sparks between the two. But when Cinder’s sweet and kind sister Peony falls ill with letumosis, Cinder must risk her life to save her.
You are probably familiar with the story of Cinderella–this series uses characters from your favorite childhood fairy tales and turns them into characters who live in a futuristic world. This is a great series for anyone to read and definitely deserves to be in our top ten young adult series list!

3. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Katniss Everdeen is a 16-year-old girl who lives with her sister and mother in a futuristic nation called Panem. The Capitol, an advanced metropolis, holds an unfair rule over the twelve districts of Panem. Each year the Capitol holds a competition for ages 12-18, called the Hunger Games, a fight to the death. Katniss is selected to represent her district in the games–will she survive?
I read The Hunger Games, and it was one of the best books I’ve ever read! It’s a unique, action-packed story that will absolutely enthrall you. 2. Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan
Will has been waiting for the Choosing Ceremony for so long and now he’s finally there! The Choosing Ceremony is where he is to be chosen as an apprentice, but Will is worried that he won’t be picked at all. However, when Halt, a ranger (rumored to be involved in mysterious sorcery) appears and gives a piece of paper to the head of the fief, Baron Arald, Will’s curiosity is piqued. Later, Halt says that he will teach Will to become a ranger.
You probably haven’t heard of Ranger’s Apprentice before–it’s another really underrated young adult series. If you like fantasy and medieval worlds, you’ll definitely enjoy reading it!

1. Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

At Hogwarts, Harry meets Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger–his soon-to-be two best friends.
